Hey Anastaysia, tell me how you go, and yes, let me dig deeper into the various aspects of meditation and some active meditation techniques in the next post... I would have to redirect you to some competent teacher and better sources at some point, though, I am not a teacher myself, just a practitioner... And yes, you will have a wonderful time starting with meditation, the effects in the first few months are definitely worth it :-). All the best!

Well, thats the practical view of meditation, I suppose... So much of discourse around meditation is spiritual, there is a very practical nuts and bolts side to it too!

Wonderful to hear you say that, Walter. The journey to infinite awareness starts but with a single step :-).

So true, Justin, the buddhist path is one of reason and logic. The approach is to always start with belief but end in understanding/realization...

Krishna, it's an elegant distinction you make between attention and awareness. Well done!

Hi Krishna,

This is a terrific piece on meditation. I've been incorporating a few minutes a day of meditation for the last two months. I find that your reasoning that meditation need not be spiritual to be terrific and I will use it the next time someone asks me why I meditate. I am quite a spiritual person, but I use meditation as more of a way of minimizing the mind chatter. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But as long as I acknowledge my Shenpa and let whatever happen, happen, then the benefits are immense. Thanks for this terrific article. I will be sharing it on Tumblr.

Regards,
